Looks great! Keep up the good work, it will be done in no time.

A 50mm W/G would be the good size. Remember it has to do all the work when you DON'T want the turbo to work.

Today I finished the pipe from the right manifold to the merge. The manifold aims to the center of the car witch made the pipe kind of a pita to make. I also let the car off of the jackstands and pushed it out of the garage to take some ground clearence pictures. At the lowest point I have 5in. I think it should be ok. I am waiting for ups to bring me my 5in. to 4in. reducer. When I get my hands on that downpipe construction will begin.

Maybe a good Idea to limit the front end travel so it doesn't bottom out if it looks close.

Just a thought.

Post Downpipe

Went back out to the garage today and went to work on the downpipe. The flange out of the turbo is 5in. for a better fit I reduced it down to 4in. not optimal but should meet my goals. I also included picture of man's best friend today, my heaters! When I started to warm the garage my tools had frost on them!

Thanks! Most of the tubing came from Summit. The reducer came from this truck parts company http://airflo.com/index.html This place has a good assortment of huge pipes!

I hope to have an agreement with a tubing company. (exhaust) by the end of the week.
If it all work out we should be able to offer some great deals on some " bend kits".

Something like this retails for about $80.00 and
we hope to sell for less than that.

1.75" OD x 3" Radius Mild Steel Header Builder Kit: (2 ea) 180, (2 ea) 90s, (2 ea) 45s

We should have steel and S/S thru 4".
Wish us luck!

Keep me posted. I'd like to do my headers in stainless instead of mild steel. I've been checking out Ebay for some kits, but haven't seen 2" yet.

Default Wastegate

Made some more progress today, installed the wastegate. It is a cheap ebay 50mm model. The pipe coming out of the merge is 2.25 in. and the pipe out of the gate is 2 in. I disassembled the gate and inspected it and everything looked good inside (no metal burrs and the valve operates smooth) I planned on putting the dump into the downpipe further back but I didnt want to cover my access to the plugs and dipstick The pipe to the merge took about an hour of trial and error grinding. I used a piece of 45 deg bend to turn the wastegate for a straighter shot to the downpipe. Looks like the hotside mock-up is about done.

I might bump up the final install to may or early june Im getting more curious as to what it will do! I still have the coldside and oil lines to do. My welder is in Fla. (retired) playing golf, he should be back in April. We get snow around here till almost may so no big hurry. I wont be able to use my timing cover for oil return so I think I have found a good spot on the pan to weld a bung. I am just going to keep working on this thing on my days off and it shouldnt take much longer!

I was just checking to see how bad you had the bug now!

I know I would be dying to get it on the chassis dyno or run it.

You guys are lucky to have access to a dyno and not have to pay 50% more for parts because of shipping and taxes..

I can't even imagine not being able to get the parts I need when I need them.
That would help me in some ways though. I would have more time to fabricate thongs properly rather than just running the wheels off the car the way I do.LOL

Default update

Well most of the work that makes for cool pictures is done. This week I built a blow through carb. I used a Holley 800dp that I had code 4780. Its old and beat-up so it made a good choice to cut, drill and epoxy on. I was going to document this with pictures but its already on the forums as a sticky. heres a link...
http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html
The base setting I used on the carb are primary jets 80, secondaries 88, and the pvcr's are drilled to .080 This should be set too rich which is where I want it to be at start up.

I also had to install a o2 sensor bung in the downpipe for my a/f readings so I can tune this thing once its up and running.

Few pictures..

you have 2 out of the three most important tools to fabricate anything in that pic. an electric drill with uni-bit and a hammer. all your missing is a roll of duct tape

I use green 3M painters tape to mock up all my pipes before welding. The 2" wide stuff....doesnt leave a bunch of crap on the pipes.
