Default 56 4 dr ht

Recently acquired a 56 Cheftan 4 dr ht. The car needs a lot of work but runs and drives OK and the body if very good. It has a stock 316 with 4 bl. and Hydra-Matic transmission. Looking for parts to restore the car so if you have anything let me know.

Nice car. May want to post up some ads in the forum here for your year of car too.

Nice project! I've always felt that 4-door hardtops were under-appreciated. I like 'em- the style of a hardtop, with the convenience of four doors.
I've seen the '56 316 (actually 316.6 rounds up to 317) sometimes referred to as a 322. I haven't personally ever measured the bore and stroke of a '56. If you ever have your engine apart, I'd be curious to see what the bore and stroke actually measure.
The 4-bbl 316 had a fairly healthy power rating of (I think) 227 HP (except with low-compression heads, stamped 'L' by the engine number)- certainly not 'wimpy' for 1956!
Any particular parts you're looking for?

Yes, need front fender chrome, all dash knobs and lighter knob, window rollers, esp. vent handles (white knobs all around). Spending a lot of time researching and getting literature on the car. I'm suprised that Pontiac had a larger V8 than Chevy, and with a 4 bl, also 2-4 available.
