You have a very desireable car just from a collector's standpoint because most people hack those cars up to drop a V8 into them.If it was a 70' or later I6 car I would say hack it up but you have something special there with a late sixties Sprint.
With the right suspension parts, brakes and a good 4speed gearbox they make terrific slalom cars.Good power balance with less tendency to overpower the rear tires in corners.
The 67's and possibly some of the early 68's came with the 230" engine and most of 68 & 1969 the displacement was increased to 250 ".
Do not put a 230" head on a 250" engine. The smaller Chamber 230 heads will create to high a CR to run street gasoline with flat top pistons. Race only it is OK.
That engine when fresh can rev to 7000 rpm because of the overhead cam.
If high revs will be constantly achieved lighter rotating assy parts are in order.
The Pontiac OHC6 can be stroked out past 300" by using a modified Chevy 292 truck six crank.
My current everyday ride is a Ford truck with a 300+" Ford six in it.
With just minor bolt ons and a cam change it flies. We jokingly refer to it as "The Other 5.0". so if that thing can wake up with just minor mods....
you can make huge power with a Pontiac 6 especially if you go turbo.
Nissan dominated in SCCA sports car classes for a few years with their 2.4 and 2.8 liter overhead cam straight sixes in "Z" cars and those are small engines in comparison to the Pontiac OHC 6.
There is a board called "Pontiac Overhead Cam Six Forum" but I do not have the link to it here.Lots of good tech info and discussion going on there about this much overlooked Pontiac engine.
And do indeed check out the Primatech website.
