When making the new hood from the mold, do you start with a finer cloth or something to give you a smooth finish or do you fill it after you pop it from the mold? Sorry about all the ?s

Right this is the plan.
We will wax the hood real good, then layup some glass over the top and add in some wooden bucks. We hope that it will pop off when cured.
If that all goes to plan we will paint the mold with some gloss autopaint and wet flat so its smooth. Then gelcoat and build up the new hood. We have managed to get some 800gram cloth cheap on ebay so shouldnt need to many layers.
Its all experimental as neither me or my buddy have done this before but as its going on a race car it wont matter to much. We can always make another one
Will post pics as we go
