Hojs69: Iíve also work real close with John Marcella of Marcella Manifolds. He developed the cylinder heads, which are a set of All Pontiac Tiger wedge heads. He developed a really good port for them and then we sent them down to Texas to have Slick Rick Racing Heads do the CNC machine work on them. They turned out really well, however, the heads are challenging because they have a tendency to leak a lot of water. Thereís always challenges with Pontiac stuff, and we were battling a lot of water leaks and casting flaws in these things. Itís been a big challenge just getting everything to where we needed it.Ē

And Iíve ran them last 5 years with no issue. Your real world experience(and not second hand internet my cousins brother in law ran them)? The vaunted Tigers no doubt can make power, but theyíve had their share off issues. I have 2 buddies running them and they wont hold head gaskets, soft castings, etc. Before everyone piles on, my race car ran wideports and Iíve got a 455 pump gas motor on a stand with e heads. To each their own.

Mr Hooter, yes have real world experience, good buddies that have had nothing but issues with CV-1ís. Disapution issues. When it comes to Tigers or High Ports flip a coin either you get a good casting or not. Iíll go along with Gach statement all junk !

Soft head/ head gasket sealing problems explained

Turbo Louie has a fix for the head bolt boss problems.

If an aluminum alloy casting is flawed/porous / has weak areas not much you can do.Those issues are design/production flaws.
If the 356 T6 heat treat is not right or going away........ .
Aluminum alloy heads that get welded on for mods or repairs need to be properly re-heat treated , pressure tested & dye penetrant checked.
Plan on swinging for the fences with a particular set of heads? They need to be thoroughly tested before any work on them begins.
Racers pushing the envelope on parts that were not originally designed to withstand the stresses and power levels being achieved are going to find all the weak pieces.
Over the years the top fuel & top alcohol racers have proven that with out a doubt, even with all the super parts they now use just to be able to go a round or two.
You name it, they have destroyed it .

blocks
cranks
rods
pistons
camshafts
cylinder heads
push rods
rocker arms
valve springs
seats
valves
blowers
& everything else from the bell housing out to the rear wheels.
I don't care who makes it, determined racers will eventually blow it up. LOL
Yes there are bad runs of parts & QC issues (they all have had them) failures need to be returned to the respective manufacturers for forensic analysis if they are serious about improving on their own products.

High powered door car racers are experiencing the same destructive testing woes.
Just this weekend KB racing appeared to destroy an engine in the final round of PS at Pomona.NA no power adder & they have the best of everything.
They are not going to start throwing their parts suppliers under the bus on the internet.
They will work with them to solve the problems.

If It Breaks,Make IT Stronger.
If It Does Not Break , Make It Lighter.

To each his own is right, for me its more fun having a LOW 9 second pump gas car, you can take out anytime, and F.u.c.k with the Chevy boys. Fire that baby up and get the adrenaline going. Set back and enjoy. Think Ill take car out this weekend, or maybe plan on a trip to the track with jr. and laugh as he tires to get used to being a second faster then his bike.
