They have been out a while, you just need a second mortgage for the converter.
I heard like 5grand!!

None of it is cheap anymore. But to me itís worth it.

By the time you do a 4l80e with the converter, computer to shift it, and new drive shaft you're at $5000.

OK, 4L80E is being built right now by a very reputable local shop (less than 1 hour away). I opted for all available hard parts except straight cut planetary set. I was told it wasn't needed at my power level and I may find the whine annoying. It will be nice to be able to walk in and look someone in the eye if there's a problem or if I need help. Now to decide on a converter manufacturer. Can't decide between ATI or PTC. Price is about the same.

It depends, custom build 4-6 weeks he said. Off the shelf is quicker but you don't get exactly what you want
