Default Hiya! Newb '37 4dr Slantback

Hey there folks! Names Jason... INJUNTOM told me to get my rear over here and check in... Its lookin purdy good so-far, this is my first time on, so be gentle.....

FAQ- Purchased 1937 pontiac 4 door Slantback from a friend @ 3 yrs ago for $500, no motor/trans., but the body was in great shape. Everthing was disassebled and bagged/boxed/labeled when I got the car. We (my buds n I) proceeded to figure out what for motor/trans would be good canidates. When a freebie 250 six out of a Nova turned up, that solved that. The 700r4 trans-a-mission would come by a freebie as well, from one of my buddies in the group. Big Al, the one who sold me the car helped me setup the motor/trany mounts from the stockers cut out of the Nova. In between trips to the shop I had to piece the already disassembled car back together.. with nothing more than a shop manual to guide me. Kinda like putting a puzzle together without the photo on the box. Anyhow the motor and trans are in Interior of the car is in, and some of the small amounts of bodywork are getting finished up. Ive installed front lowering springs from Eaton, and 2" blocks out back. The brakes, and installing the fuel tank/lines are the next biggies on my list.

Along with Tom, I could use some 'better' chrome trim for the sides of my 6 cyl hood. I say 'better, as mine are falling apart. Chrome finish isnt my worry as they will be painted red to match the grille sides, just need to be solid.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a lil bout my project, a little later I'll fill ya in about me.

Good to see you found the time to check it out.

Don't forget to mention it to anyone you know with an old Pontiac

Hi Jason , any updates on the car? Great looking project you have there. I was thinking a Pontiac OHC engine would look good in an early car too.

Welcome Jason, nice ride, can't have too many 37's on the road

Hey Bill, I thought about a OHC engine for my car but it looked to be a little tight with the exhaust coming off the drivers side. Not a lot of room on that side with the master cyl and clutch linkage. I'd like to see one done though.

Thumbs up update 8/31/08

well, its been a while since I've been on here, been kinda busy woking, traveling for work, or working on the car... yea, I get some sleeptime in there somewhere.

Ive managed to get the car to the point of roadtests! Its been out about five times, but I've been having issues with the 700r4 tranny Im using. I need insurance and inspection yet to be road legal, then its just a matter of working out the bugs.

To see pics, and VIDEO! of the car checkout my myspace page

hope everybodys project are rolling along well... take care J.

It's came a long way since the first time I saw it. Very cool to see it roadworthy.

Default Update 4/18/11

phew been a while...forgot all about this site till I got tagged recently..
Been driving the wheels off this thing; I rebuilt the head once, added a few accessories..and just been having a blast. Most people tell me not to paint it, 'cuz its got character' but its getting a bit ratty...

attatched here 4 recent photos.. Note: this car is a daily driven mess. winter-summer. One of these day, when I can stop driving it long enough.. it will get painted, and interior redone..just not sure when.

Yes, that is a bank of snow, I was...um... checking my articulation out... and trying to show up my bud in the Explorer parked to the left of me

I have added your photos to a folder I am putting together for 37's. I am going to get as many 37's as I can and make an album.
