Default independent rear

does anyone know of an irs for the second gen birds

I don't know of any bolt in, but Heidts makes theirs in different widths. You could get one of theirs and then you would have to fab it in.

fab work is fine with me, i have looked at many different styles to build my car in, finally decided to build the best handling Trans Am on 15s

question for first gen guys, unique performance sells a nifty rear axle/suspension setup for 1st gen f-bodies. My question is how close are the rear frames of the first and second gen f-bodies or are they completely different

They're wider than the 1stgen, that much I know. To use a 1976 rearend in a 1968 Firebird, we had to move the mounting perches inward from where the TA had them and I used deeper offset Centerlines to get the 295's centered in the wheel well....$5000!! And that's without the center section and axles! But what a beauty!
