Didn't even realize I put that on here. Lol

I guess it's my short attention span that makes me jump from boats to cars to planes. Can't stay focused

I pretty much like anything with an engine and the lessons learned from other things carry over to each. The airplane guys are not only very knowledgeable but their testing is second to none, some of the things tested as amateurs blows me away. Very impressive. Makes for some great reading. Always looking for things that will carry over to the cars.

Charlie, bringing up you old post for some 4 cylinder crank questions. I'm getting my crank done now (finally) at Mile High Crankshaft in Colorado. My question is, what did you do to the rear crankshaft flange at the center (pilot bearing hole) to work with the transmissions you used? I'm guessing you used the normal Pontiac roller pilot bearing in the original hole for the manual. But what did you do for the automatic torque converter nose pilot? I was thinking I have to have the flange cut out/machined to the same configuration as the V8 crank? Wondering what you did for the converter when you switched?

Mark, I had the converter cut down to the size of the crank . It was the cheaper way...

OK. then what did you do for the shorter bell housing face? Did you space it out with adaptors or? I tried to go through your thread yesterday but it's so darn long I just ran out of time looking. Thanks for the reply Charlie. Good talking at ya again.

Mark, I made a 1/4 spacer and bought longer bell housing pins to accommodate the spacer. The pins are tapered so that extra 1/4 brings it too close to the taper....

Yeah good talking to you....

I think I remember from your thread now. I used two plates to make a spacer from. One Chevy to Pontiac trans adaptor plate and one IA rear engine plate to do the same thing. Thanks again for your sharing experience Charlie.
