Default Looking for opinions on color....

I'm planning to use PPG Vibrance Tri-coat paint on my '66 Vert project. Considering a couple colors. They are:

Candy Red

or:
Cabernet

The guy who painted both of these cars will be doing mine.

What are your thoughts.....

I suck at body work and painting, so no. I'm working with somebody. This thread is old - painting has started already. Bottom of car and firewall are done. Body is back on and final prep is being done right now for the rest. Here are some pics:

Firewall is done - including clearcoat:

Wheel wells not yet clear-coated, but note they've been opened up a bit:

Here's the underneath - not clear-coated yet.

Not "true" candy. It's PPG Tri-Coat Cabernet, part of their "Vibrance" line. Expensive as all heck, but when finished it really looks great.

Yeah, it was. Friggin paint with all the activator, etc works out to almost $1K per gallon. But, I'll probably never build another car to this extent again, so I figured I was going to do this one exactly the way I wanted and do it right the first time. I saved a little by not using quite as expensive a clear on the bottom, since it won't get much UV light. I still look for the hidden hundred dollar bills that must be ground up inside the paint somewhere.

It's not hundreds, it's all that "PURE GOLD" they put in there! Really nice looking color though. For me it's just BLACK, one of the cheaper ones.

Not much -

I haven't snapped pics yet, but the core support, inside of fenders, inside of doors, and inner fenders are done in all coats. They look great - except we're not happy with one of the inner fenders (not the paint, but a spot where there's a radius curve and the metal is "wrinkled". We're cleaning that up. Right now, the body is being block sanded .

One interesting note - my paint and body guy is so concerned about making sure everything is perfectly straight and blemish free that he's suggested that we spray it with black first just to absolutely know. So, it's probably going to get sprayed black later this week. Then, the jambs, windshield frame, etc will get color. In theory, we're into full paint next week.

thats awesome. Wouldn't a black epoxy or 2k primer and then make it shiny with wax and grease remove work as well ?
