Default KRE.... High Port Aluminum Head

KEV : Hey Guys. Just wanted to inform you about the new KRE High Port head. KRE started flow testing this week. The head has 330+ right out of the box. With some very mild port work the heads jumped up in the 380 cfm range. The minimum bore size for the head is 4.150 and you are not required to run a rockershaft!

**Not required to run a rockershaft,**

This is good news, rockershaft set-up go for big dollars
try like $800-$1000.00

***The head has 330+ right out of the box and With some very mild port work the heads jumped up in the 380 cfm range. ***

The E-Heads take quit a bit of port work to get 330 cfm ( some very mild
port work they will flow 380 cfm ) That's 50 cfm more then and E-head.
All sounds good.

Default Bare castings are going to be in the $1300-$1500

Complete ready to go heads will be approx $2200-2400.00. That's with Ferrea 1200 series valves, roller springs, Titanium retainers, 10 degree locks, pc seals, guide plates, ARP rocker studs, springs cups.

The price sounds good bare, but I wonder what it takes for valves size.
What's a Ferrea 1200 series valve.

Default The runners have not been cc'ed yet.

Hum? I wonder what they'll be, I hope around a 315 cc runner
that's what's needed for 535 cid motor.

I'm looking to feed a 505 cid, so doesn't sound like they'd be
much better then and E-head if the volume is around 250 cc.
But they are if you don't have a head, and are in the planing
stages of building a 505 cid $2500.00 complete is a good price
I'd hate to say what I have into my E-heads.

Default We live in exciting times

This is truly an exciting time.
We have waited years for things like this to happen.God bless the people who took the gamble and designed and produced this stuff for us after the corporation turned it's back.
It reminds me of the sixties when the factory was trying to turn out cutting edge stuff.
Two for sure after market blocks with offerings in both aluminum and iron.
Four manufacturer's of new cylinder heads.
Edelbrock
Wenzler
All Pontiac
Kauffman
Shaft type rockers
The BOP stuff
Meziere pumps
Crower equipment.
Comp Cams
List goes on and on......
It's out there now for the buying. We are no longer tied to 30 year old parts.
[cool] :ax

it cost a lot to build a aftermarket 800HP pontiac engine but to most people in our hobby a corprate motor is NOT a option.A USA billet crank is in the 2500-3000 range.AND most is not all of the "cheap" forged cranks offered in the aftermaket for the fords and chevys are "offshore" materials.Tom

why no off shore in your engine when virtually EVERYTHING we buy today comes offshore?Your shoes, your clothing your everyday appliances?

Default speed cost$ ,how fa$t can you afford to go?

Ditto what TJ 's 44 says
Crower is USA made right here in my home town and has been for many years. It is all top notch equipent.Where ever did you get the idea they are made in China .LOL
Summit won't push Crower because they do not get the big call for it . They get a better markup on the stuff they push in the book. You can deal direct with Crower.
The only imported stuff Crower sells, that I am aware of, is rods for Hondas.
No one is forcing you to buy the stuff. These guys stay in business because they do not give it away.
No US company will ever be able to produce a crank here cheaper that the importers because of the disparity in wages and business costs between here and China or whatever 3rd world country some manufacturer chooses to exploit.
Sure Chevy and Ford stuff is cheaper because there is so much of it running around out there and those manufacturers still support those engines.
Pontiac called it quits in 1979 and went corporate.
At least Chrysler re-introduced the 426 Hemi in a crate engine.
Nothing from Pontiac.
PMD is now all style. They just call up corporate powertrain and tell them what they want to go between the fenders.
If the current PMD is not careful they will fade like Oldsmobile just did.
Historicly the Ford and Chevy speed parts have always been cheaper even when the majority of them were still made here.
Volume, supply & demand dictates the price after overhead and profit are met. There has never been as huge a demand for Pontiac speed equipment as the Ford and Chevy stuff but now we have a bigger selection of parts than ever before even when we now represent such a tiny market share to a manufacturer.
We are working with museum pieces. IMOThe real death knell for the Pontiac engine division was sounded in 1963 when GM pulled their famous racing ban.
DeLorean had to sneak around to get the GTO built.Forgiveness was easier to ask for than permission. All the other Pontiac engine development after that was virtually still born shop experiments.
Pontiacs development costs were so high because of their corporate overhead expenses for R&D work

The only stuff we saw out of it was,
A Camshaft
Ram Air III & IV cylinder heads
SD 455 too little to late total production #s not that big
Ram Air V engines and parts, rarest of rare stuff ,total production figures? Zedo would know.
The V heads should have gone into production on a twin turbo 455TA or GTO. LOL

The only alternative is to Chevy up if the horsepower per dollar figure is all you are looking at.
[cheers]
