Default Project - "FT2BTYD" 1977 Astre

Ok now I know what car I'm building I'll start a build thread on it. And post any and all ideas and feedback...
Project "FT2BTYD" Fit to be tied a term my girl used when she was pissed at her kid...must be a southern thing I said but it would be a kool name for a car lol. So here it is a 1977 Pontiac Astre with factory 3-piece rear (rare) spoiler and unique "duke" graphics. My plans are to mini tub the car and run a 275 DR on a 15x10 wheel with "stock" suspension. It is a torque arm car so it should do good I plan to build adjustable torque arm and trialling arms. I'm also going to be adding a 12+point cage to it but the best part is it will be PONCHO powered and not one of them "other" brand motors LOL So stay tuned for a kool build and the history of this car. Because I plan to track it's history just to find out more about it. Some say it's really rare some say it could be a promotional car but I say CUT IT UP either way!! How else am I going to get it into the 9s for now lol...
and here's my starting point..

I grew up near Motion Performance, they did Camaro's, Corvettes and Vega's. They gaurented 11's out of any Motion car. That was only 375 h.p. small block in them to do it. So 9's will not be a problem with 700 h.p.
The problem with our torquie Pontiacs will be hooking that small wheel base with a 275 d.r. Good luck it will be fun!

Well if the "pustangs" can go even faster even on a 235 DR this should be good on a 275 DR after all the wheel base is only 3" shorter then the stang has better rear suspension and lighter... If anything it will be a ball and I will keep adding more tire if needed LOL

I envy you your Astre. I've been searching the Phoenix area since I moved down here in '08. Only found one on a lot that seems to have no owner??? I had hoped to find one here that would have avoided all of the rust problems found up north. Great project and keep the updates coming. After I compete my present build I want to build the '62 Tempest 4 cylinder I have, turbocharge it, and drop it into an Astre.
