Thanks Injun Tom,

Been busy so haven't checked back much lately. Nice GTO by the way!

Alan.

Hey 65 Lemans,

Not too far at all. Like the 65. Nice chopper too! Never got into bikes but I have a few friends that are. Just a pontiac guy for the last 25 years.

I have a 67 bird that is going to be just a drag car that I am putting together now and a 68 bird driver that I am putting back together also.

I was around back in the 80's when my friend, his dad, and I helped restore a 65 GTO convertable. Very familiar with the 65's. Fun to cruise in when they are done.

So far I have had a 67 GTO, 69 Firebird, 68 Firebird, 70 1/2 Trans Am, 70 Cutlass Convertable, 71 442, 64 Malibu, and now the 67 and 68 birds.

Welcome to the zone.

Alan.

LMAO.........Just got to be smart I didn't grow up in SOC (South oak cliff)
but over in the west side illinois & cockrell hill rd. I have 2 Pont 400 motors that came with the car if i run accross some good pont stuff i might consider building one but for now the SBC is screaming to go in, Ive heard a lot of bad things about the pont motor on the perf side and have never built one. I love the car she needs work,Ive bought all new almost every thing (gears, posi, trailing arms, interior, carpet, back glass, scatter shield, flywheel, ect)hoping to get her going by this summer.

You can get all kinds of stuff for a pontiac due to its parts interchangability.

Heads, 65-79 All interchange
Rods, all 6.625
Cranks 326, 350, 400, 3" Mains - All the same cept for balance
Cranks 421,428, 3 1/4" Mains - Both the same 455 longer stroke but will drop in other blocks.

Aftermarket Nodular Cranks under $300 Forged Steel under $700.

Complete Stroker Reciprocating assly - $1800

400 Blocks are easy to find. 455's are getting scarce.

400's can be just as strong as a 455 if not stronger and just as large CID.

Build a poncho and have the same fun.

Chevy's are great but nothing like a 455 and 550 ft. lbs of torque with a q jet and headers! Tire melting fun.....oh and you can run tall gears with that torque too. Just begging for a turbo!
