Default Raised seccond gen formula style hood

Planning on building a raised formula style hood in glass this year to keep the dual snorkel style on the car but get about 2 to 3 inches of more room. Doing the mold off of a stock firebird hood and then building it in fiberglass. I have worked with glass before so it is gust a matter of getting the shape to my liking. I will post pics along the way. wont be seriously worked on until i'm out of school for summer. but bits and pieces until then. Also if the money is there (doubtfull) i will do it in carbon fiber.

Starting out with this flat beauty. Perfect candidate for my mad scientist creation.

If you build it I will buy one!! That was a real frustration to me back in the 80's when I changed out to a better manifold and a Holley Dominator, no room. Had to sell the hood and buy a glass flat hood and wound up using a Formula 5000 Indy style scoop (they were all the rage at the strip back then) later on a typical snorkel. Would have loved to keep the stock dual scoop Formula hood. Getting ready soon to build another 70 Bird

I will be shooting for 3 inches extra without it looking like a race hood. I will post pics over summer of my progress and you can see if you like it.

Most recent news is that i will be working with VFN to complete the build. I will be making the " Plug " myself and then work with VFN to lay up the mold and final part. I CANT WAIT!

What happens if you raise the part between the scoops, but leave the profile the same?
