Default To chrome or just buy replacement

My 57 Chieftain needs pretty much all of its chrome redone. The bumpers obviously will get sent out. However I was wondering about stuff like the door handles, side mirror, other trim pieces. Much of this stuff you can buy from Ames or somewhere else. Most of the stuff on the car is pitted so I know it is going to cost more to fix what I have and have it rechromed. Is it better to get new or rechrome? One thought I had was if all the chrome was going to match. I am sure there is different quality work and would it all look mismatched? I am in no hurry but any input would be appreciated.

If you buy new from Ames or PY it will pit like crazy.. I used one of my Ames mirrors on my driver as quick replacement for a few weeks in the winter, it looked like I found it in a salt pit! Totally shot.

I would look on e-Bay for NOS or re-chrome or you could just remove some of the trim all together.. I removed the heavy rocker chrome from my 64 Bonneville and it looks a thousand times better...

57s are so badass!
