Factory N crankshaft can take more than you think in its factory condition.

I couldn't agree more Stock Pontiac 400 bottom end will handle 450HP mark easy.
One of my quirks is demanding a zero zero crank but have used a 10/10 even 10/20 But I hate too. I stay away from cut cranks if and when I can just not as good as a zero/zero with Hardness treatment that's only .001 - .003 deep and i would say .002 is pushing the limits in reality.
If your Main bearings came out good with no Spun main bearings there is also NO reason to Line bore!
I have seen blocks ruined from line boring incorrectly that does more harm than good. I personally would look for another block before Line boring a block. If you do Really be critical of the work performed double inspect work for straightness and the caps are square.
Don't use full grove main or Rod bearings!
upper half of main should have a grove bottom side should be flat solid.
I like Clevite 77 or better.
Measure and double check all your oil bearing clearances Rod and Main! DO NOT depend on Plastigage EVER!
Check Rod bolt stretch.
Do not over Torque Fasteners! or reuse them more than recommended. fasteners loose clamping force each time they are Torqued!
Theirs more But Nothing that's Not covered In a good Factory repair Manual.
Don't over think it and don't get too excited about what the latest trends are!
What works in a $50000 race engine isn't what you need for a basic 500hp street engine Its not rocket scince.
