Well looks like we have a 455 test mule to use as well. Should have it in a few weeks.

I will still be doing the 400 to see what it will handle as that was the original intention.

Did you look at the turbo maps of the Holsets I posted above? I know it will take a pair of them but they should get the job done quite well. either 400 or 455. Pretty fat map IMO. Run them with the stock gates closed and put a gate on a big balance tube between them.

Sorry bruce hadnt looked them up yet maybe over the weekend if I get a few spare seconds things have been crazy busy.

It would be good to test the single gate with a balance tube, but I wouldnt run that in a real world situation. NOt worth the chance of opping a engine from over boost situation IMO.

Id just buy two 38MM gates and run them indepenantly.

Gates are OK to spend money on because they are worth almost the same used as new so your only loaning the money out. LOL
You get it back later.

Id be OK with a single BOV though.

Actually you can modify the actuators but I would still run a 3rd gate as primary off a balance tube. It insures equal response and if the other two are within a pound or so more boost they will keep things ok should the primary fail. Seeing they have integral gates you dont need a 3rd but I like the balance/safety factor.

For a low buck approach those 2003-2004.5 Holset HY 35's move a lot of air and can spool quickly. A single on a 359 inch cummins hits 32 psi at 2200 and thats with relatively cold diesel exhaust. Two on a 400 or 455 would still be well spooled by 3000 rpm. The compressor map is quite wide on these things. Id want a high flowing gate.

Jeff what's your thoughts on the HY 35s? If I build my 370 I might use those for it. Mark L

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turb...et-turbos.html lots of info here Mark

Post #9 has the hy35 from 2003-2004.5 map hy and hx35's other years will be different.
The entire thread is quite long but a good read. I say a very good match for a pair on a 370 but head choice and rpm range can alter needs quite a bit. I'm scrapping my 360 inch plan and going forward with my 59 389 at 400 ci(maybe 406) Initially I have barons old Rotomaster E flow rajays but I think the Holsets may be my choice if I dont buy new turbos.

The 2003-2004.5 hy35 on a 5.9(359) Cummins spools to 32 psi by 2200 rpm as a single turbo. Two would take @4400 rpm to spool there on the same motor.
Diesel exhaust is much colder so on a gas motor they would be able spool to that psi far sooner. I'd run a suitably sized balance tube between them with a large gate on it to keep things in check and tweak the stock integral gates as a fail safe maybe a psi(maybe equal) more over the single gate. (split the single gates exhaust as well). It doesnt have to be that complicated just sayin how I would do it. Taking boost down off the balance pipe may also avoid turbine housing "choke"(if any) at higher rpm.

They sound like a viable option for the 400 range street motors.

I have been so busy with work I havent had time to really look at the maps etc.
The CID and RPM of the diesel thay came on, compared to a pontiac engine, divided in half and compared look pretty descent.

Thats all I have for info right now.

I could do some more looking in the future when I get some time. Its crunch time on the job I am on right now and I am flat out busy.

This is gonna be a super busy month 1/2 for me.

first look looks OK though.
The turbo I specd for charlie would be a killer though at $750.00 X2 it makes 1460 HP Thats close to a dollar per HP.LOL

It would be a MONSTER!

should make 720 HP on charlies 4 cyl
