1955 Starchief Custom Catalina
This thread will detail the last 5 years of work that have gone into restoration of my 1955 Starchief.
The car was purchased in July 2000 from the original owner in Georgia. The owner was given the car by his father when it was purchased new in October of 1954 and was going to be handed down to his son, but unfortunatley he was killed in a road accident the christmas of 1998,so he offered it to both his granddaughter and grandson but neither wanted it so the car was put up for sale.
The car arrived in the UK December 2000, this was the first time that i had seen the car in real life. The car looked fairly straight so i booked it in for an MOT test (Vehicle saftey check that every vehicle over 3 years old has to pass each calender year) The car failed this test on brakes, brake lines, wheel bearings, king pins and steering box.
I never meant for the restoration to be a complete body off but after a couple of weekends i had a warehouse with the car in about 2000 pieces. The following pictures show the restoration over the last 5 years.
