I put the bellhousing up against the back of a 63 389. The top bellhousing bolt holes line up along with the bottom two bolt holes. I guess there are just four bolts that it attaches with.
It has been a few years since I unbolted these parts so I decided to mock it up on a block.
I can get measurements.

So... when do we get to see a picture of this '63 block with a '55-60 pattern on the back of it?

I'd like to see where the confusion is. I had a 61-63 bellhousing and it wasnt even close to fitting my '59 motor.

Default I quess you could call this progress...

Well... it won't be very long, and I'll be able to say that my '59 GMC is TOTALLY apart! Shouldn't take long to disassemble the chassis. And, since I'm not building a show truck, the chassis will just need cleaning, replacing a few worn parts, and spraying it with Rustoleum satin black from spray cans. Oh- also need to fit a power master cylinder and stainless lines, build a torque arm for the rearend, a torque-absorbing transmission mount, and weld up stainless tailpipes.
Then, just wait... and wait... for the body/paint shop to finish the cab, doors, and rear fenders. Most other body panels are ready to go- same blue as my "Challenger" mini-pulling tractor. Beside the hood is the '58 Tri-Power and Hydro-Stick that are waiting to go into it.

That's going to be a nice truck. I remeber my father having a GMC that
came with a Pontiac motor in it. You should have heard him talk about GMC trucks..they where better then the Chevy trucks..real heavy duty.

Thanks, Gach. It's a long-running project, but I'm trying to not "cut any corners".

Default Back home...

It only took the body/paint shop two years to knuckle down and finish my cab. But a couple of major pieces are now back home. I had the frame sandblasted and powdercoated.
