FOR SALE: 1970 FIREBIRD w/455, RA V tunnel port heads
hello all. I've decided to sell my 1970 Firebird with the 455 and Ram Air V heads, tunnel ram still in car. Price is $10,000 and most of that is for the RA V stuff. You get the whole car. The car is in primer, my intent all along was to use the car as a test bed for various cams, carbs, intakes using original RA V heads- and not do another restoration. It was an engineering exercise and I learned a lot tinkering with it over the years. The time has come for me to part with it. There is a few more goodies I can throw in such as lots of extra RA V intake/exhaust gaskets, an extra 2-4bbl top for the ram, all the carb adapters, a spare NOS big roller cam in box, a NOS 1970-74 flat Firebird GM hood in GM transport primer, and a 1970-73 Formula fiberglass dual snorkel scoop GM hood. anyone interested can PM me here or reply on thread first.
1971 4-bolt main 455 block, NOS SD455 GM rods, cast crank, balanced, solid flat tappet street cam 250/270 @ .560" lift. you can see the videos of it on YouTube still to this day. the intake is a steel Wenzler he made back in the day and they work well. I don't want to break it up, you get the whole car, will have to be trailered. Dave Swimm custom 9" converter ($600 new). TH350 trans built w/kit.
the block was bored .060" and then honed a tad more with torque plate for extra clearance with forged pistons. the pin bores on the pistons were also honed extra for oil clearance, a RA V needs it. the pistons are custom dished 9:1 compression, runs on pump gas. I always ran 93 octane in it, but it will run on 86 to 90 octane. I never beat on it with low octane gas. it's a real pump gas engine.
