Look over by the distributor, you'll see a Set of numbers, those are
date codes, then post them here, I can tell you what year that motor is.
Also in front of the motor ( left hand side ) right under the head you'll see
a set of numbers, with two letters under the set of numbers, that's also
the code for what year and car it came out of, get those numbers and
letters.

It's either a 1971 or 1972 block, no YC's in 1970. the 4 barrel
ones range from 185 hp to 335 hp, depending on what car they
came in. Compression 8.24, so that means big chamber heads.

Did this motor have a two barrel or 4. My guess is the 1970 GTO's
would be the 4 barrel 335 hp, ones and the big cars GP. The two
barrel ones are more then likely 185-250 HP. That's about all I can
tell you.

I used this to help ID mine when I got it. Engine ID It shows the YC block was used in 70 to 73. Differance is 4 bolt or 2 bolt.

The number you posted first is the shortened VIN for the engine, showing it as a 1970 GTO.

The YC is a 455 in 1970 in the GTO.
Probably 4 bolt mains.
