I can help with the codes. The base color on my funny car is Orbit Orange with some gold pearl mixed in. I'll check my paperwork when I get home tonight.

Here are the codes for Orbit Orange:

Pontiac Code = T
Manufacturer Code (GM) = 60
PPG code = 2257

I used Omni brand base coat - clear coat for the funny car. It was a pain in the a$$ to paint all of the different colors on the body because once you start, you can't stop until the clear is on. I assisted my painter in masking the car off and just supervising him to make sure he didn't f@$k it up (which is good I was there, else the stripes would have been uneven width's). At any rate, it turned out pretty well, and start to finish was 19 hours from primer to last coat of clear.

Omni is a little less expensive than other brands, but it works well. The only complaint my painter has heard is the Omni clears tend to yellow over time, but this was only from oxidation...from cars that weren't garage lept and driven daily. For my purposes it should hold up well, as it should for other part time cruisers kept in a garage.

Paint starts on page 8 of the link. The first couple of shots of the Orange were when it was still wet, before we laid the second and third coats on with gold pearl. Those shots tend to look more gold than "orange".

Thats the same color my ventura is going to be. O-orange darkened abit and gold pearl.

Some pics of the old ventura, can't seem to find the paint sample of the new color.

Here is mine, started as O-orange then darkened and gold pearl added.

You are probably better off with a custom mix.

They should be able to cross reference the PPG code if you give that to them and tell them it's 1970 Pontiac Orbit Orange.

I'll check the cans I have at home and see what other codes they may have on them and report back tomorrow.

My friend works at a paint store and is a manager. They are a PPG platinum distributor. Omni used to be the cheaper line PPG used to sell. They changed the name to shop line. I used omni on a bumper cover on a saturn beater I have, the clear is starting to come off. He said he has heard of a couple of others as well. It was painted about 5 yrs ago. Has never been inside the garage since though, so a "garage" car will probably hold up better. I can probably get codes and possibly cross references if you need them.

I've been in the garage several times and keep forgetting to get the codes off the cans. Will see to it this week.

I chose Omni for three reasons:

1.) It's what the paint supplier that my painter uses sold.
2.) It was cheaper than the premium brand.
3.) I knew it would be kept in a garage most of the time.
