Pontiac Stock & Superstock racers month of August
At Brainerd (brain nerd) Minnesota Randi Lyn Shipp Piloted her C/SA 67 Firebird to the final round of NHRA Stock Eliminator Where she lined up against Ben Line (Jason Line's brother) in his C/SA 69 Mustang for a heads up final. Both were showing as dialed @ 11.40 and they both ran way under if they were going by break out Shipp was closer to the dial even if she left 2nd her .024 to Line's .009
Line went 10.538/ to Shipp's 10.679 for the win. Guess that's the way NHRA does their deal in the final when its heads up and both cars are the same class?
It was a pretty deep field of a possible 80 first round match ups that went six rounds to the final.
Round 3 saw Shipp squaring off against Chris Stephenson's D/SA 68 Firebird and taking the win to continue on.
Chris Stephenson was in the D/SA class showdown but fouled /red light.
Bradley Kolvisto in his 74 GTO 350 fouled in the H/SA class run.
This class of 350 cars are in the LOW 11 second range.
Another Pontiac Standout at Brainerd was Bill Rink who took the SS/MA class win in his Pontiac 350 powered 1974 GTO. 10.996 @ 119.47
Pretty good for a 350P NHRA class legal car.
Lots of other later model Pontiac cars out there at Brainerd in the fray running GM corporate engines too.
Jeff Crooks took the Super Gas win in his immaculate looking '67 Firebird
Not sure what he's using for motive power (mebbe BBC?).
Its a 9.90 index and he and his opponent ran under in the final, Crooks @9.885 and his opponent at 9.883 so it would have gone to Crooks at the finish on the double break out index rule but his opponent fouled red at the start. OUCH!
