Default 68 GTO Ignition switch

The switch on the left was what i too out of the 68 GTO the one on the right is brand new from AMES.
WTF over ?
Did someone rig this car up or what.

Seems like the switch that is in this car is the same as a 68 firebird switch, if someone spliced in the connector for a FB they a good job.
Or did they install this from the factory for some bizzare reason?
