I'll take a guess and say 9.30-940's only because of the weight of
3600 lbs. Should make close to 836-850 hp. Motor by Gaydosh is the
magic words. Glad to see you getting some thing back together..nice.

damn John, going big cubes.... I think it would run somewhere around 9.10's or 9.20's... 3600 is alot of weight...

Thanks, I am adding weight so I can run in Jeff's Class. Ram Racing's DR class. I am trying to build a budget motor...when going cheap bigger is better! I think it run well, not as fast as Kinsler, but fast enuff to have fun...and at a lot lower RPM! PS it may be 3650!!! with the bars on...I can't afford to smash anything! I got a good deal on parts from Frank at allpontiac. I droped everything off at Jack's today...he said 4-5 weeks!

I can't think of anything that would be more fun..9.10-9.20's and be competitive. I'd love to be able to race with you guy in that class..but
unfortunately my car has 4 link. Putting a DR on wouldn't be a problem.

Happy for you GTOKID

I juat want a motor that will not hurt parts, or need a lot of work to keep it running well. With such a large stroke and kinda small cam I am thinking 6500 will be as high as I want to spin the motor. The springs should last forever!

Smart move...keeping it affordable, and dependable. Of course until
that itch for more power hits you again.

Dude, thats sweet, but your cams gonna want to see 7000 rpm with that much duration. Your cam is just a couple small steps under mine. But a good move on your part not going bigger, you need to get it moving out of the hole, how much stall on the converter and what carb you gonna run. Your guestimates on your car running low- low 9's puts me deep into the 8's.

I have a OLD DaVinci carb Its a 1050 but they bumped it up a bit. I think they called at a 1280 cfm...but you can;t prove it by me. Its kind of out dated now. LOL. The Converter is a 8 in and I got it from PTC. I may have to send it back as it was made for my old 477 cid. The 477cid motor ran 9.19 at 147 mph(3380LBS).Ed Quay did the shocks and set the car up. It has run 1.28 60"(with no tuning!) I think thats why the guesses are kinds fast. I am using the same heads and cam just a bigger short block. My old motor had a more expensive short block but was still low RPM. I used to shift at 6800 and trap at 7400 rpm. I know this will be a low RPM deal I may have to take gear OUT!!

You are correct adding stroke will move the power rpm band down. Bigger bore only tends to bring power band up. IMO you likely will run lower than before but not alot. It typically takes 15-20 additional degrees duration for a half inch stroke increase to run the same power rpm bandwidth. Your not increasing stroke that much!

BTW That is still a decent airflow even at 535 cid its adequate for same powerband.

IMO you already could stand less gear adding more power in same or lower range I'd drop to at least a 3.7 or less just as you are now. Thats a short tire. A 315/60-15 is probably going to want a 3.7 gear in your new combo.

I am trying to spend very little on this motor! I am reusing my old cam from the 467 cid.
If I get it done for spring...I will not run ALL the Ram races but would like to run cecil, grove,Delmar maybe.(don;t get your hopes up...like RON says I have been saying I was coming out for 3 yrs!) I would like to try a air pan does Ron sell a kit? I am kinda stuck with the tires and gear I have. I can short shift and just let it eat out the back door.
