Default rear tires and rims

what is the biggest tire/rom combo that will fit under the back of a 79 firebird? i was thinking about a et street 28*12.5-15 on a 15 *10 rim but not sure it will fit.

Probably not without some rubbing. A 10 wide wheel will need 5" backspacing.
Not sure on that tire size.

you could do that no problem. One set up that i looked at was 315/35/17 on an 11" rim, it neede 5.5 inch backspacing. look at a.x.'s car it has tires about that wide on it

With the advice from AX & friends, I got 15x8 fronts, and 15x10 rears from Classic Industries (Rally IIs).

Then for meats, I think I have 295-50-R15s on the back.

I wouldn't be able to fit much more back there!

I have a 75 and run 15x10 with 4 1/2" backspace. I run ET Streets 28x12.5x10 before I put the Hotchkiss 1.5" rear drop leaf springs. The ET Streets have a wide section width. I now run The Hoosier Qwick Time Pro 28x11.5x15. Hoosier's are 10" wide vs ET 9.9" wide and the Hoosier's have a 1" less section width and same 28" tall so you shpould have no rubbing issues.
