Default Can't Wait To Prove My Combination!!

Hello, this doesn't count as being proven, but I really want to prove it! Well, another summer has passed and I didn't get to the track, you should see my suprised face. However, the car runs really good except for running really warm in the summer (220-230, too close for comfort for me, need to try a high flow alum. water pump).
The other day I took the car for a ride. The air here in Northeast PA is getting crisp and cold. I was going 35 MPH and jumped on the gas. The tires immediately broke loose and the as_ end fishtailed all over the place. I have 12" of tread on the rear tires, too. What do you think this will do in the 1/4? Thanks for looking!

Don't worry about that crank dude!! I've been 9.40's spraying out of the hole with a stock crank, not even nodular. Very few failures with properly prepped stock Pontiac cranks. Converter is pretty tight, and head flow will obviously slow you down. I'm guessing 12.60 with a good tune up.

Depending on what those heads flow. But I agree mid 12's.

id say hi 12"s to low 13's depending on head flow. plus your gearing IMO is going to slow your 60ft a bunch.

I sure will, thanks for the thoughts! In the spring, I have to buy new slicks, my old ones are dryrotted. They are from the late 1990's, the last time I was into bracket racing. Wow, I am really getting old. Lets hope it will NOT be a long, cold winter here in the Northeast! We have to be look on the bright side: 32 more days, and the days start to get longer!

Crank is not your weak link. What size of slicks do you need ? Car needs more gear.IMO

With the fender flares (on the car when I bought it, and they are growing on me) there is tons of room, but I would like a 10-12" wide slick, 28 or 29" tall. I believe the taller the tire, the higher the effective gear ratio, right? That would hurt my effective gear ratio. I was thinking about street slicks, do they work, don't they work, which ones to stay away from? Any opinions are always welcome! Thanks.

How tall of a tire did you have on there already?

Lil Jack or everyone- What kind of drag radials? What are good/bad/junk/so-so? I was looking in Summit at the Mickey T. Sportsmans (10.3" tread), Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT tires (12" tread), or M. Thompson E.T. Street. (11" tread)? Thanks!

You CR is more like 9.5-1 unless you have taken a ton off of those heads.
I went 12.04 with unported 96s on a 455 with TRW flat tops.

Dragncar-Wow, no kidding? What are the specs on your combo, including cam, carb, rear gear, converter, trans? Thanks. And MB125 my tires on the car are 28" tall. I got a good deal in the works for Hoosier drag radials, 30X9X15 for $100.00, they have 40 passes on them.

Then you can make some quarter mile passes and see where you are at
