So now since the heads are at H&M Airflow I will get Dave to machine out those bolt holes and insert steel sleeves. Louie I can't thank you enough. Between that and additional cooling holes I hope this motor will last.

No problem Steve , im glad you decided on this way because it works. You will never have a stud stuck ever again . Ive had them done for over 3 years now and had the heads off more times then i can even remember unfortunately. lol

Haha, Yeah i remember wanting to sledge hammer my motor when all 3 exhaust studs was stuck in the head at once . The aluminum on top of the boss hole rolls inward into the stud and clamps onto it like a vice grip . This happened to me 4 different times. Would of been easier to deal with if they were bolts rather then studs.. I did find a easier way to get them out after the first time though...

Im curious to see Daves work when hes done with your heads. I hope you post some pictures of them here .. When do you think you will be getting them back?

Good luck

I hope end of next week. My new Ross dished pistons should be in also, so I can get this Procharged motor running. Did you 0-Ring your block/heads?

No , just a 3 layer gasket.. What compression ratio are you going with ?

What I remember is some ????? that look like "port through" type deals. Its what it looked like to me. Like the ????? you see in SD 455 heads for the pushrods.
I just assumed I they were for something like that.
Its been awhile so its tough to remember. I will just have to wait.

5 layer Cometic .060 thick. should end up at about 10-10.5 compression. Comp Cams speced the solid roller cam at 272-286 (at.050) 825-800 lift 114 LSA

Definitely didnít have sleeves, Iím thinking from what you remember seeing is residue from head bolt washer ARP Assembly lube, itís black. Makes a perfect Circle. I put it on the washer as recommended when torqueing stud nuts.

Dave is definitely one of the best. But you already know that.

Can you tell a little about your build and how much power/boost you're going for?

This is the new combo I'm building

4.36 bore, 4.5 stroke, 537ci IA2, Tiger heads, 2" headers, Comp cams 272-286 at .050, 832-810 lifts with 1.8 Jesel shaft rockers, Ross 30cc full dish pistons, sheetmetal intake, C&S 4500 style blow thru carb on E85.

That will be bad ass, I have another friend (BBC ) he is now switching to a copper gasket rather than a mls. Not sure that is the answer, but I could see how a solid copper could help in addition to Charlies modification.

That thing is going to make some big power for sure. What are you using for boost, centrifugal ? What is your static CR ?

Its a lot like the pump gas build I am doing, but blown. Same cc dish, same lift cam, same stroke, same ratio rockers but blown. Its going to rock.

70 cc's in the chambers, 31cc's in the pistons dish, .060 thick cometic head gaskets, Procharger F-2 with maybe 18 lbs. boost. LSA 114 on the solid roller cam.
