Default Turbo question

I picked up a 79 Trans Am real cheap and was thinking of building up around a 490 cid turbo motor for it. Now here's the thing I have never built a turbo motor before so any help would be great. I called STS and they said they have a universal kit that would work for it. I'm trying to get around 750-800 rear wheel HP. Also I have both a TH400 and a M22 set up...what do you think?. Also wanting to stay with a carb on this, any thoughts as to who makes a good turbo carb? The car will be a street car 90% of the time, due to my 23T bucket with a blown 519 Poncho will be the full drag car.

Give Jeff a call for a turbo and he'll hook you up. Do STS have a round port style header kit for 2nd gen TA. I also have a 400 with 4.5 stroker forged crank and would like to turbo it too. I would loose the M22 as it would be a problem with the power that you'll be making and also for your rearend. I converted my car to a 5 speed Doug Nash and hated it on the track but on the street it wasn't too bad. I went back with a built TH 400 and a Dana 60 and never had problems.

Shepherd91 give me a call
860 392 9608

Ill get you set up w a turbo!

Edwin STS sells rear mounts that go in place of the muffler out back

Not a bad set up but kibd of prone to leaks, oil must be pumped , lots of plumbing back and forth

You lose a bit of heat energy to spin the turbine wheel but they do have thier place

Guys run them on dodge hemi trucks etc

You can make your own kit doing this style as well
Its a comprimise set up though
