Question '41 pontiac trans?????

my '41 pontiac 239 c.i. 6 cyl with 3 on the tree is popping out of 1st gear. more like slamming out of gear. car has 93,000 miles and trans might just be worn. going to look at trans. thinking about replacing trans to floor mount . i have been told a '37 LaSalle trans will hook up to it with minor fabbing, or i could use a T-5. any suggestions? also, does anyone make a floor shifter for this top loader, selector type trans? a universla, lokar, etc, won't work. Selector trans has 2 levers for gears on it. thanx.

37-38 Pontiac uses same trans and has a floor shifter. Someone over on the HAMB offered one to me but I passed. I think he wanted $125. I can give you the contact info if your interested. You can transfer over the top plate to convert your trans to floor shift unless your problems are internal .

I would check all the linkage first though.
