Default Megasquirt...

How many out there have built a Megasquirt ECU?

I got one on the way to play with. Might be at home tonight when I get there, or tomorrow. I will need to build it though. I got the ECU, power supply, stim. Cant wait to play with it.

I am a motorhead by heart, but a geek at work during the day. Hope I can get it up and running in a few months. If I can get the funds that is.

I built an MSEFI for my 80 TA. Took about a weekend to assemble the board, and if you follow the directions, its fairly easy to make work.

Worth it to assemble the stimulator board to test the board, and to test it later if something gets cooked. I bought the relay board, but never used it.

I also got the pre-wired harness, that has the wires labled every few inches. Makes it easier to tie into the car.

Right now, the car is running on TBI (fuel only). I have a 301T distributor (computer controlled) waiting on the side lines. The Wideband O2 is a great help in getting it tuned.

I've been running mine for years now. Love it!

Might be a silly queston but, I have never sodered on a circit board.

Which side of the board do I soder on? I have only sodered on my
Radio controled cars and such...

The side with all the printing is the top side. Insert the components from the top side and solder from the back side. A correct solder joint will have a small cone shape bead on the back side. Get a small pair of wire cutters and trim off any excess wire above the cone.

chris,
when you install the crystal for the uP oscillator, not only solder it on the bottom, but attach it to the top of the pcb with epoxy or hot glue or something. mine must have shook with engine rock and the effect showed on the o-scope sine wave sweep.
i hope theyve increased the termination pad size from when i built mine, as they were woefully small then.
i didnt build the sim, but did the relay board. guess i just planned on being lucky
are you using hi or lo-Z injectors? i STRONGLY suggest hi-Z. your ms FET bank will run much cooler and the I draw will be much less considering the limited vintage alt capabilities.
separate your input sig parameter wiring from your spark plug wires, as induction spikes from too close of placement will kill your uP... trust me!
unless theres a magic download im not aware of, get ready to datalog my friend!
jim

Well I got the stim together, and the ECU.

Kind of fun playing with the knobs and watching what the laptop does.

Anyone got any good books I can read about tuning EFI? I am new to it.
