Experience w/ House of Kolor Kandy paint

I'm looking to paint my car with House of Kolor Kandy Tangerine over a silver base. Anyone have experience with it? Pros/Cons?

i have use their candy paint and it is the best paint i have ever used. plus it is a head turner when done.

My car does not have the Kandy paint, but the House of Kolor pearl. The painter that did my car had never used House of Kolor before, but said it was by far the best paint he has ever used. He now uses it exclusively.

I'm counting on the "head turner" problem. :) Just concerned about applying it. I know it's hard to match (if not impossible) if you get a scratch. I also know you risk the chance of "zebra stripes" if not applied correctly.

I used it once. It lays really nice. It's not much different that applying any other paint. At least I didn't think so. I don't think it would be my first choice of paint for a noob, but that should go without saying.

I had my car sprayed with H-O-Kolors Pagean Gold and I love the color but it didn't seem to agree with the painter as it has the "tiger striping" as you stated so I am having it redone by someone else.Pics are in my gallery.

House of Kolors

[indian] I have sprayed House of Kolors several times in the past, from graphics/stripes/scallops/flames to overall paints and found the end result to be the best ever. The product is unforgiving so I advise you do a couple spray out panels and then to take your time and have nothing interfer with you while spraying. The base color is just as critical as the second step and the final clearcoat. It does mottle easily and spray technique is most important. It is definately an attention getter and be prepared to tell everyone who sees it the how, when and why's because they will ask. Good luck, it will look great!

According John K (House of Kolor founder) you have watch the gun tip distance real close , over lap 50-60 % and plan the path of your painting. The biggest thing he stressed was the tip distance, I would also add pant the car length wise then come back on the next layer and go width wise across the car to help cut down on the tiger striping unless its a goat and you want them.

As it turns out, I didn't use HOK after all. I ended up buying PPG Orange Glow paint w/ a silver base. It will look just like HOK Kandy tangerine (to me anyway) but it goes on easier and will be easier to match if it gets a scratch. Here is a link to a car with that paint on it.

Let me know what you think.

I have added a couple pics to show progress on the car. Hope to have it painted in the next week or so.
